Información del curso
This semester-long course is designed to give you an introduction to the field of sociology. The course is broken into three parts: Sociological Imagination, Social Divisions and Inequity, and Institutions of Society. We will use Dalton Conley’s text, You May Ask Yourself; An Introduction to Thinking Like a Sociologist to help frame the course. In addition to this book, we will be “reading” the world around us, including advertisements, popular culture, and community norms in Lenox and the Berkshires. The goal of the course is to understand the fundamentals of the field of sociology and to practice thinking like sociologists ourselves.
